Preparing event exports your analyst will not send back
Cleaner basket and checkout exports shorten every trend review. Use this checklist before you book analyst time.
Most delays in a Cart Abandonment Trend Review come from exports that renamed events mid-period or dropped device fields. A short prep pass saves a week.
Fields that earn their keep
- Event name and timestamp in a single timezone
- Anonymous session or user key that survives the checkout hop
- Device class and channel (or a joinable key)
- Basket value band or raw value if policy allows
Document the breaks
If you re-instrumented payment confirmation in March, say so in a one-page note. We would rather draw a gap than invent a smooth line.
Strip what we should never see
Payment card data, full addresses, and free-text that includes personal messages do not belong in the export. Anonymise first; the charts do not need names.
